HTPC Case - Silverstone SUGO SG06 Black.

Welcome to my HTPCBlog. I will use this blog to record the building of my own personal HTPC and hopefully leave some useful knowledge for others trying this after me. Please feel free to contact me or leave comments - i will do my best to respond quickly.

HTPC CASE

First step in the HTPC project was to find a case that would not only be small enough to be living room friendly but look like it is part of the home theatre setup  and not just a PC under the TV.

After quite some searching I have bought the Silverstone SG06 case in black, its from the SUGO range (model SG06b, it also comes in silver SG06s)

The case is designed for Mini-DTX / Mini-ITX motherboards - I plan to use a MINI-ITX so perfect for me.

The size is great too: 220 mm (W) x 177 mm (H) x 286 mm (D)  - this makes it living room friendly and it has a home theatre metal look to it also which means it will look like it belongs above my Yamaha RX-V2700 Amplifier.

DRIVE SUPPORT

I didn't want to use a full size optical drive as they are pretty ugly looking so i am pleased that the case only supports a slimline drive. I will initially use a DVD writer/rom/ram/yada but eventually when prices come down i will replace with BLU-RAY drive

The case can take both a 3.5" and a 2.5" drive at the same time but not two of either. again this suits me.

NEXT...

Ok, onto the motherboard now....
